The DJ legend opened up about the death of his parents, the coronavirus effect on the industry and the feeling of happiness.
The world of famous DJs is full of money, glamor and fun, but it has been known that the rich cry, that is – how all the people in the world face many problems in their lives. One of the most dangerous is certainly mental health, especially, mental problems that do not choose when to attack.
The legendary Carl Cox, undoubtedly one of the biggest stars of electronic music in history, spoke about this demanding and difficult topic in an interview with Music On My Mind, a campaign to raise awareness about mental health in the music industry and the music community. He shared his experiences, both lived during more than four decades of active DJing and now during the world pandemic.
The coronavirus epidemic and global world problems are not the only things that afflict Carl these days because he recently had to come to terms with the death of his parents, and he could not even go to his father funeral due to travel restrictions. “I had to sit in my room and watch the funeral on YouTube. I am surprised that I have the mental ability to continue doing what I am doing at my current level, ”he said.
Cox is not currently struggling with any mental difficulties, but his career, like that of other musicians, is facing an absolutely prevalent and unpredictable epidemic. “I worked hard as a DJ for 40 years, I traveled all over the world and I made millions of people happy. Since then my father has died, my mother has died, I am in Australia and I don’t have a DJ job… And that is my craft and job. And now in the United Kingdom they tell us to find a new job… So you ask me how I am. I’m fine, but I’m not happy, “he added with a laugh.
